The struggle to define our self-worth by buying increasingly upmarket versions of everyday objects continues. Casio has jumped into the game with their S100X Premium Luxury Calculator.
First off, the body isn't molded plastic, but a CNC-milled hunk of aluminum.
Secondly, while most calculators use membrane or rubber dome mechanisms beneath their keycaps, the S100X uses freaking scissor-type mechanisms, which is what laptop keyboards use.
Thirdly, the keys have the numbers molded into them, so they can't wear out.
Fourthly, the switches feature a circular brushed finish.

Yeah, but what if you want to spend more than the $350 this thing costs? They've got you covered. Their ¥99,000 (USD $621) S100X Japanese Lacquer Edition features frames that are hand-lacquered by a master craftsman, black with red edges.

While any schmuck can buy the "regular" Premium Luxury version, they're only making 650 of the lacquer ones. Snap one up, to create a special fact that they'll read off at your eventual eulogy.

Holy negative energy, Batman. This is a great product for someone who earns a living, or otherwise, uses a calculator daily. It's beautiful, functional and most likely a joy to use. I wish your writing had expressed as much instead of being such a Debbie Downer.
