This concept is by German designer Deniz Aktay.
A table in which the connection between the tabletop and the base is created using a special metal construction.
This construction is designed in such a way that it can hold books while simultaneously creating the illusion that the metal structure disappears when books are placed on it. As a result, it appears as if the books themselves are supporting the table.

This technique is inspired by existing designs such as bookmarks or wall shelves that use a similar principle, where a book is inserted into a metal rail between its pages, causing the metal to visually disappear.

Not sure if it will work exactly as intended, but the idea is definitely worth exploring.

Critics will say: Would the page-saving function work if you're near the beginning or end of a book? And Will you only purchase books of a certain height? But I think it's simply meant to be a fun design exploration.
