At first glance, this minimalist LED lamp looks like it's permanently integrated with the table.

It's not. That's Hay's new Host Portable Lamp, which has a magnet in its butt end.

For using the lamp with non-magnetic surfaces, it does also come with a base. You detach/attach it yourself, magnetically.

Both the lamp and base are powder-coated aluminum. Five hours of charging via USB-C gets you 16 hours of light. It's offered in two sizes: A 220mm (8.66") tall unit that goes for $189, and a 300mm (11.81") tall version for $223.

$225 for something that costs $15 elsewhere (and looks the same) is a hard sell.... That must be one expensive magnet.
