Cleaning a steeply-pitched roof can be a dangerous affair. Hence this invention: A tool that lets you do it safely and from the ground, this rotary surface cleaner by Swiss manufacturer Mosmatic.
You mount it to a lance attached to a pressure washer. The underside of the tool features a rotating arm that has holes punched in it.
When water is delivered to the tool under pressure, the spray arm spins as water shoots out of the holes.

French cleaning company Refreshome Nettoyage uses one. The results are impressive:
Before you weekend warriors get any ideas, these tools are designed for professionals and run $2,700 to $3,800 a pop.

You can buy the head for under $100 for sidewalks, and the mechanism appears to be the same. The pole extensions are separate at under $150. The pressure washer is also separate, but if you are considering pressure washing your roof yourself, you likely already have one. Weekend warriors aren't using these 20+ hours a week, so $2k+ pro-grade versions are probably not necessary. Also, to clarify, probably not a good idea to use on asphalt shingles.
