S-Moove's Low-Tech Cantilever Trick for Transformable Furniture

S-Moove is an Italian company specializing in modular, removable furnishing systems for vans. Formed by architects Francesca Carpinello and Massimo Aversa, the idea is to provide easily removable plywood crates that can be used as van life furniture.

They've devised this interesting, low-tech system for providing a cantilevered surface:

I have a hard time believing plywood that thin will stand up, over the long haul, to the weight of a full human body. However, it does seem a good way to cantilever something that will hold less weight, like a countertop:
